MJH Life Sciences will be presenting the webinar “Battling dual threats: Flu and COVID-19 converge” as part of the MJH Life Sciences COVID-19 Coalition to address concerns about the looming potential health crisis.

The 2020-2021 influenza season is around the corner and it poses an even bigger threat than it normally would because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has already taken a major toll on the US health care system. MJH Life Sciences will be presenting the webinar “Battling dual threats: Flu and COVID-19 converge” as part of the MJH Life Sciences COVID-19 Coalition on September 15, 2020, at 6 PM, eastern time.

The webinar will be moderated by Angela Rasmussen, PhD, an associate research scientist at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, in New York City, New York. Panelists joining Dr. Rasmussen will include Juliet Morrison, PhD, an assistant professor at the University of California – Riverside, and Andreas Handel, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Georgia in Athens.

Questions discussed will include:

  • How should co-infections be managed?
  • What should be done to prioritize testing and diagnosing?
  • What strategies could improve vaccine coverage?
  • What can be done to reduce transmission and preserve the current function of health systems?
  • What are the interactions between the seasonal influenza virus and COVID-19?
