The essentials of pediatric ECGs, Part 2

Article

Your journey through pediatric ECGs continues with the last four principles essential to their analysis, and a review of normal/abnormal findings.

Keypoints:

At the cornerstone of every electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation lies the following eight parameters:

1 General quality/technique
2 Rate
3 Rhythm
4 QRS axis
5 Atrial enlargement
6 Ventricular hypertrophy
7 PR/QRS/QT intervals
8 ST segment/T wave morphology

6 Ventricular hypertrophy

Ventricular hypertrophy may be representative of underlying structural heart disease such as semilunar valve stenosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or underlying systemic or pulmonary hypertension.
