A voluntary recall of SimplyProtein’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bar has been expanded because of the potential for undeclared cashews, Wellness Natural USA Inc. announced according to a press release from the FDA.

An initial recall of the product, which included a single lot, has been expanded to include all lots within expiration. According to the press release, any products with best before dates between April 11, 2023, and March 14, 2024, are included in the recall. The location of the best by dates on the product can be seen in the image above.

The recalled Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bars were only distributed in Costco stores in the United States, at a nationwide level. The product is sold in a 15-count variety pack that includes 5 Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bars.

The initial voluntary recall was initiated following a consumer complaint. To date, according to the press release, that complaint is the only reported reaction. The decision to expand the recall was made by Wellness Natural USA Inc. to exercise an abundance of caution, while the cause of the contamination is under investigation.

US-based Costco stores in possession of this product are urged to stop sales and distribution, isolate affected products, and contact Wellness Natural USA Inc. for verification and instructions for disposal. Consumers who have purchased impacted products with a sensitivity to cashew should not consume and return to Costco.

This product and other flavors in the carton that do declare cashew as an allergen, are safe to consume for those that do not have a sensitivity to cashew, according to the release.

Concerns should be forwarded to contact@wellnessnaturalinc.com.
