Bobbie Labs has announced the planned launch of Bobbie Organic Whole Milk Formula, which the company bills as the first and only USDA Organic Whole Milk infant formula on the US market.
Announced on March 10, 2025, the company, which is an organic infant feeding company, expects the formula to be available in April 2025 for $28 per can.
“When you see an organic infant formula on the shelf today, it may contain a few organic ingredients but doesn't mean it is fully USDA organic like Bobbie’s Organic Whole Milk infant formula. Partially organic products are unfortunately misleading to parents looking for high quality organic infant nutrition. As our most vulnerable population’s first food, infant formula deserves the highest quality and clearest product claims,” said Christina Berberich, PharmD, MPH, RD, vice president of Research and Development in Regulatory Affairs at Bobbie.1 “The USDA Organic seal on the other hand, represents a game-changing level of quality that the American infant formula market has never seen with a whole milk product, ensuring it follows strict organic farming and processing regulations. Our formulation features at least 95% of ingredients that are certified organic, no synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics or GMOs, no artificial preservatives or flavors, and adherence to strict animal welfare standards. Nothing short of the best—for our babies and yours.”
According to a 2020 survey conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, less than 50% of infants in the United States were exclusively breastfed at the age of 3 months. Launched in 2021, Bobbie Labs is the research and development arm of the infant formula company Bobbie, which was launched in 2018.1,2,3
According to the company website, Bobbie became the first infant formula company to enter the US market in more than 6 years in 2020. Prior to the creation of Bobbie Organic Whole Milk Formula, Bobbie marketed 3 different infant formulas, Bobbie Organic Infant Formula, Bobbie Whole Milk Infant Formula, and Bobbie Organic Gentle Infant Formula.3
According to the March 10, 2025 release, Bobbie Organic Whole Milk infant formula is designed with a fat blend that may support softer stools. It contains more milk fat and a lower volume of plant-based oils, resulting in a higher concentration of palmitic acid in the SN2 position compared to Bobbie’s Organic Original, Organic Gentle, and other nonfat milk-based formulas.1
The formula also includes naturally occurring milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), which the company points out has been associated with potential benefits for brain development, immune function, and gut health in infants. Additionally, it provides DHA at levels that meet EU standards, as well as choline.1
The release also notes Bobbie has undergone independent third-party testing aimed at ensuring the formula is free from toxins, contaminants, heavy metals, and other substances, exceeding standard FDA requirements.1
“For years, we asked ourselves why there is no USDA Organic Whole Milk formula on the market? Turns out, it is incredibly difficult to develop, but for our Bobbie Labs team of scientists, pediatricians, dietitians, regulatory experts—all of us parents—we fundamentally believe it is our responsibility to uplevel the entire industry and we can’t do without pushing the status quo,” said Laura Modi, chief executive officer and cofounder of Bobbie.1
