Ruth M. Kleinpell, PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN, FAANP is scheduled to give the opening keynote discussion, "Elevating Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Practice to Advance Child Health," on the conference's first day.
According to the conference agenda, Kleinpell will highlight the important impact PNPs make in advancing child health.
Several sessions will focus on clinical recommendation updates across a number of pediatric guidelines, including on an Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) 2024 Guideline Update, Opioid Prescribing for Acute Pain Management in Children and Adolescents in Outpatient Settings: Clinical Practice Guideline.
Contemporary Pediatrics is scheduled to speak with Maureen Madden, DNP, CPNP-AC, CCRN, FCCM, FAAN, regarding the glycemic control clinical update, and presenter Jessica Spruit, DNP, RN, CPNP-AC, CPHON, GMTCN, FAANP, for her session on acute pain management.
Danielle Van Damme, DNP, CPNP-AC, is presenting on the 2024 IDSA guideline update regarding assessment and diagnostic imaging, and microbiological evaluation of complicated intra-abdominal infections in adults, children, and pregnant people.
Mary Koslap-Petraco, DNP, PPCNP-BC, CPNP, FAANP, will deliver her yearly update on immunization recommendations on Tuesday, March 11.
Contemporary Pediatrics will speak to Koslap-Petraco about the best available evidence for immunization practice for children and adolescents, and note changes made in the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practice (ACIP) schedule for 2025.
Teri Woo, PhD, ARNP, CPNP-PC, FAANP, will lead the 2025 pediatric pharmacology update on Tuesday, March 11. The session will feature newly approved or relabeled pediatric medications and discuss current pediatric pharmacology studies.
The issue, according to the agenda, will also highlight issues related to pediatric prescribing.
Barbara J. Monaco, MSN, CPNP-PC, will lead a session titled "Breaking the Cycle: Addressing Period Poverty, Promoting Equity and Fostering Sustainability in Menstrual Health," scheduled for Wednesday, March 12.
Monaco, who is scheduled to be interviewed by Contemporary Pediatrics, will highlight how limited access to menstrual products affects education, mental health and gender equity, emphasizing the importance of advocacy in removing barriers to menstrual health.
Also occurring on Wednesday, March 12 is the "Hear and Now: Hearing Loss, Ear Infections and Development in Primary Care," session, being co-presented by Camille Walker, CPNP-PC and Sacheen Harris, MSN, CPNP-PC.
This presentation will review the different types of hearing loss clinicians may encounter in the primary care setting, appropriate referral to specialists and subsequent management, according to the conference agenda.
